two collects two days of recording with contact mic's in places of varying degrees of nature in Brooklyn and Queens. at this time working with contact mic's was a regular practice. Michelle Nagai once commented how my recordings are of everything up close. for me it is the perspective that is not readily audible that is of interest in capturing.
the first set of recordings were made from submerging a contact mic to differing levels; from into the sand to suspended between the rocks that make the structure. the second day of recording was less active, submerging the contact mic into the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. to my surprise I did find a crab attacking the mic, whose gurgles I suppose become audible though the water. these two edits are from longer takes that played back in Issue Project Rooms 16 channel sound system when located on Carroll Street in Brooklyn.
